ADDED TO BARKLEY CAMPUS
In response to requests from police acadamies and other institutions of higher learning, Barkley is experimenting with bang immersion to acclimitize students to loud explosive sounds and bright lights. The theory behind this experiment is that canines who are pre-accustomed to loud sounds will be able to control the run and hide response normally found in canines. The demand for this sort of training exceeds existing facilities for giving it. See http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nm/20010102/od/dog_dc_1.html
Barkley's immersion lab has been the cause of many complaints from surrounding facilities, and its bills for new fencing and repair to the building may prove too high to render the project eost-effective.
