REPORTS FROM THE
LOCALS
Local 779, Queensland,
Australia: Membership drive is now at 80 per cent of quota, very
few holdouts have been reported. Budget presently at $7000 on hand,
very little litigation, most complaints turning out to be bad beefs.
Local 643, Kansas City, USA, reports that applications are coming in daily from Pit Bulls who wish to be classified as working dogs rather than sporting dogs. Membership voted to reject membership to the Pits as they just want to tap into our solvent litigation fund, theirs nearing zero.
Local 690, Aberdeen, Scotland. Membership wishes a reduction of fees as their employers pay very low wages, especially those in the far north.
Local 335, Overland Park, Kansas, USA. Dissension in the membership as to whether franchise owned Greyhounds can come under Section 740C of the current operating contract without contributing to the retirement fund.
Local 38, Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. There will be a vote in October about insurance rider for Iditarod runners.
